Audemars Piguet
Audemars Piguet Skeleton BA 4266
Description
Audemars Piguet’s renowned skeleton dial watches are simply a triumph of engineering and craftsmanship. Not only is each and every part fashioned, engraved, and assembled by hand, but the beauty of the 36 jewel movement is clearly visible to be enjoyed by the wearer.
While skeleton dial dress watches are not uncommon from the Audemars Piguet house, this particular reference features the distinct octagonal case shape of AP’s most infamous timepiece, the Royal Oak. While the Royal Oak is an industrial sports watch, this 1985 skeleton dial watch is its perfect dress accompaniment, clearly sharing a similar design language.
This reference features the Caliber 2120 automatic movement, one of the most famous in the watch industry. Jointly developed by Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Vacheron Constantin, it was the world's thinnest mechanical movement with automatic winding for several decades - and was also the same base caliber used in the original ref. 5402 Royal Oak.
With a classic vintage case size of 31mm and only 5mm thick, this timepiece has the perfect proportions of a refined dress watch. The 18 karat gold case is complimented by a glossy black alligator leather strap, where the Audemars Piguet branding can be found on the underside of the leather as well as on the matching 18 karat gold buckle.
Condition
Watch is in excellent condition for a vintage timepiece. Impressively offered as a full set, this timepiece comes with its original box and papers, an Audemars Piguet suede protective travel roll, an additional AP leather strap, and its original purchase papers from Gübelin, a heritage Swiss jewelry house.
